(一)

　　画画的人，是用画来纪录他生命的过程。这是我最近的一张画，稍有心得。把它放在这本小册子最前面，如同我的肖像近照。

　　所思所想，所问所答，境界如何，技艺如何，都呈现此中。

　　(二)

　　画面有耐人寻味的细节，一直是我追寻和向往的。也许需要用一辈子的时间，才能将细节打磨得圆润完美。作者的才情与修养，在这里得到安安静静的释放。它使绘画变得有血有肉，可读可赏。

　　不过，没有灵魂的安放，再好的血肉也只是行尸走肉。“精神性”就是作品的灵魂。什么是精神性呢?如果非得要用一句话来概括，那就是：人在旅途，对于这个世界，你看到什么?你想到了什么?你准备说点什么?

　　1995年，我的第一张成形的关于都市的作品，稚嫩而无所顾忌。

　　它是令人眼花瞭乱的中国城市化在我眼中的印象。

　　欲望、活力、冲突、纠缠，是这个年代的关键词。

　　这一画，就是15年。

　　四

　　艺术产生于有话要说。我画画，因为我有话要说，向我自己，向我的同类。我审视周遭的生命。这些画，就是他们在我的眼中形成的镜像。美丽，物质化，欲望，脆弱和短暂，是我看到的生命的关键词。

　　五

　　我下面的作品基本按照创作的时间先后来排列，从中可以看到十年来风格的演变和渐进。在中西文化碰撞之时，每一个画家不可回避地都要做出自己的选择。从对西方当代艺术简单的模仿，再回到自我的立场上，重新审视和亲近传统。从手忙脚乱中逐步走向从容和淡定。这一走，就是十五年。

　　我在做一件很困难的事情，用我的作品来纪录和证实我的存在，精神和肉体同时地存在。我认真地做这一件事情，用一生的时间。至于结果，我不去追究。

　　Artists keep their track of life in their paintings. This is one of my latest piece of work, I learned something from it. I put it in the first page of this catalogue, for it is just my own recent portrait.

　　People will find what I was thinking about, the questions as well as the answers to them, my conceptions, and my feat.

　　II

　　The intensely interesting painting is what I had been pursuing and approaching. It might take a life time to polish the details in mellow and perfection. However, the talent and quality of the artist is been liberated in it, which vitalizes the painting, and makes it readable and adorable.

　　Nevertheless, everything is dead without a peaceful soul. The spirituality is the soul of my works. What is spirituality? It is, if I have to define it, in your trip around the world, what did you see? What did you think of? What do you want to say?

　　In 1995, the first piece of work concerning the metropolis was finished in tenderness and delicacy without fear.

　　It was the dazzling impression of the urbanization in China that I witnessed.

　　Desire, vitality, conflict, tangle, these are the key words of the time.

　　And I could not help, to have painted for 15 years.

　　Art comes out of our desire to express something. I paint because I have something to say to my fellowmen and myself. I have considered the live around me. These paintings are the mirror images of what I see with my eyes. Beautiful, materialized, desirous, fragile and ephemeral are the key words of my feelings about life.

　　The order of my following works is arranged basically according to when they were created. From the sequence, readers can see my style change and evolve. Inevitably, every painter has to make his/her own choice

　　when eastern and western cultures meet and clash. We all started by simply imitating contemporary western art and have finally returned to reviewing and learning from traditional Chinese painting. We have gone through being in a rush to being at ease as artists. The process takes me ten(fifteen) years.

　　I am doing a rather difficult thing – to record and prove my physical and spiritual existence through my works. I am doing it seriously in my lifetime, without caring about the result.
